When you go on vacation there is always so much to do to prepare for the relaxing time ahead. You need to pack and figure out what you will need, make prior arrangements for pet care, day care and plant watering. You will also need to get together all your official documents and one very important if not crucial thing you need to think about is travel cash.
When you take foreign currency abroad you have a number of choices of obtaining it. One way to do this is to go to the bank. You will need to first of all find a bank that offers this service and then you place an order for the amount you would like and in which currency. A definite disadvantage of this is that banks usually have charges for this service and you could end up paying for simply getting money in a different currency and this service is usually higher at the airport since they count on last minute travelers changing cash here.
One of the disadvantages with this is that it makes you quite vulnerable when you have large amounts of cash on you. Obviously on vacation you are going to want to spend money on treats, dinners and souvenirs and any other little extras and you don't want to pull out large amounts of cash each time as there is always the chance of an unlucky break and a potential theft.
Leaving it in the hotel or in a safe there is time consuming, still open to potential theft and who wants the staff to constantly dole out money and know exactly how much you are spending. This should remain your business, not to mention the inconvenience of this.
Credit cards are another option. They are portable and have a limit on them, which is useful for emergencies. However, credit cards usually have a high interest rate on purchases and you end up paying more in fees when you get home. It is also less easy to keep track of your spending and it may cause you to go beyond your budget.
One excellent option is to purchase prepaid currency cards. These are really useful and you can top up the card before you go on vacation. They work in all countries and currencies and are not connected to your bank account so you can keep your accounts separate and secure. They allow you to prepay a fixed amount too so there is no danger of going over budget.
You will get a pin number and you can register as an online user to check your balance and add more cash if necessary. It enables you to take charge of your own expenses without all the costly charges and danger of going over budget.
This is the perfect solution for travelers. If the card is lost then it can be replaced and will be cancelled and because no one else has your pin number there are less opportunities of the fraud that can occur with stolen credit cards. It is the best option for everyone considering a trip overseas leaving you to relax and have a travel cash stress free great vacation.
