Can it be a modern-day Exodus? Indeed it is not. It is time for summer holiday in the UK. Brits are flocking en masse to their perennial number one destination for all things relaxing. France has long been the country of choice for the rest of Europe in need of the perfect balance of tranquillity and heart-pounding pleasure. France is a desirable locale for many reasons, one of which is the ease of travel. A quick, inexpensive car journey trumps a costly, tiresome airplane ride overseas any day.
Once you've settled on the idea of taking a holiday in France, the next decision must be to select a villa or hotel. The size of your family may play a large part in this choice. However, villas are wildly popular and offer the most convenience and options. Sample the local flavour with a first day trip to the market and flex your own culinary muscles. Of course, a primary draw of France is the exquisite cuisine of the diverse regions. Dining out in France qualifies as an experience and is generally considered a good value.
Next comes the selection of location. Here your choices are as endless as French delicacies. Begin with the region. Ask yourself what kind of climate do you prefer? Are you planning to explore its wines? What sites do you wish to see? For instance, the Loire Valley is famous for its Chateaux. Unspoilt by industry, it has much natural beauty, boasting woods, rivers, lakes and orchards. Here, you will find a Cathedral completed in 1484 and several chateaus.
Regardless where in France you travel, history will surround you. You will never be far from a fascinating museum, Chateaux or ancient hilltop villages.
Do some internet searches to find attractions in the area where you will holiday to find hours of operation and to inquire if fees apply. You may also wish to book tours well in advance of arrival.
Take a ferry or the Eurotunnel or check low fare airlines for good rates throughout France. Either way, your vacation still packs the best bang for your money when you take your family holidays outside the UK... Save even more money by going camping in France.
