Have you heard that you can improve health through reverse osmosis and want to determine if it is really true or not? Then you need to know some important information about this so you can decide if this is something that will help you improve your health.

Reverse osmosis is a process of water filtration or purification where molecules of water will be forced using pressure through a membrane of plastic. This is where most of the impurities or contaminants are filtered out and will be directed to a drain while the filtered water will be kept in the holding tank.

This process will be able to remove most of the impurities and contaminants from the water you drink so you have safer water. One reason that reverse osmosis is good for improving your health is because it removes bacteria and pyrogens along with other bad things for your health from the unfiltered water.

Most of the sicknesses that people can get are carried in the water supply that people drink. A sad fact is that most people don't realize that the water they are drinking could be a big factor in the sickness they have so they never change the water they drink.

If the water you drink has not been filtered or purified then you are putting yourself at risk for getting a sickness. The more unclean water you drink the more likely your chances are of getting sick from it.

Most people don't realize that drinking water that is polluted has been linked to causing birth defects and even learning problems in kids. So children will definitely benefit from reverse osmosis to help keep them healthier.

Installing one of these systems into your home is very easy to do for anyone. Once it is properly installed you can expect to have the system remove up to 99% of the water impurities that can be found in unfiltered water.

That alone is worth having your own system because of the fact that it ensures the water your family drinks every day is clean and not going to cause them sicknesses.

Now one last way that these systems will help improve your health is by using a method known as submicron filtration of water. This will reduce the amount of many different things in the water including:

- Cysts

- Pesticides

- Volatile organic chemicals

- Asbestos

- Lead

Now that you know this important information about improving health through reverse osmosis you can see why so many people say it is true. If you are serious about improving your health then you have nothing to lose by getting your own system and everything to gain but especially better health.

Mindfulness Cognitive Therapy is Like Monitoring Your Twitter Stream?

Mindfulness cognitive therapy can be likened to monitoring your thinking stream like you do your twitter stream, except your thinking and physiology are much faster than Twitter.

In fact, you process sensory data perhaps twice as fast as you can blink your eyes, so mindfulness cognitive therapy needs to be fast doesn't it?

I know you have a twitter account, don't you? Well, if you don't sign up for one, and follow a few folks and you will see what I mean. You will begin to see a stream of their tweets in your twitter account, and most of them will have no more interest for you than a casual greeting offered to someone in the hallway.

Other tweets will make you cheer, and others will leave you surprised, or curious, or angry, or disgusted, ect.

Mindfulness cognitive therapy means paying attention to your thoughts the way you do your twitter stream, except more frequently.

The process is not unlike what you do when you look at the Necker Cube graphic at the top of this page.

If you look at it for a moment, you will see it seem to change, a new face of the box will appear to be closer, and if you move your attention to a different corner, the face closest to you will again move.

I often ask my clients in my domestic violence education classes a couple of questions about the Necker Cube designed to make them more aware.

For example, If I see Box A, (on the Necker Cube) and you see Box B, who is right? The answer is that both of us are right.

The next question would be, When I see Box A, where does Box B go?

The answer is, Into the background.

I think mindfulness cognitive therapy involves paying attention to which square of the Necker Cube I am seeing and switching if need be to the other one.

The down side of all this mindfulness cognitive therapy in a time limited psychoeducation class is that while the clients get it, they are not motivated to do the somewhat tedious process of truly implementing it, so I use some computerized tools to spark interest in mindfulness cognitive therapy.

The first is a biofeedback tool called heart rate variability biofeedback, which is based on recent discoveries about the heart's own nervous system.

The mindfulness idea here is that you can learn to be aware of very subtle changes in time between heart beats, and move into coherence or out of coherence on demand.

So you are learning to pay attention to your physiology and your thinking heart beat by heart beat, and since your heart has enough neurons to learn and make decisions independently of any other brain you have, you can train your heart to respond to your breathing and thinking on any given heart beat.

And there is a cognitive therapy component to heart rate variability biofeedback, which means that you do need to be aware of your thinking, and with the biofeedback, you will see how a change in thoughts immediately impacts your body.

So the computerized heart rate variability training gives you a very positive boost towards the awareness and choice that you need to be really mindful.

Not sure you can pay attention to your thinking or your physiology heart beat by hear beat?

Well, technology has given us some new tools that train memory and attention too, based on the dual n back task.

Yes, in about 19 sessions lasting about 1/2 hour each, you can make some serious improvement in your your memory and attention, as measured by an IQ test.

Nobody even knew that we grew new brain cells daily until about 10-15 years ago, and it was only in the last year or so was there any research on the dual n back task for us to look at.

The program which I think best embodies the dual n back process is the Mind Sparke, which I think qualifies as a very important novel learning experience tool in the emerging brain fitness field.

We can work out our brains these days, and attend to their fitness, and their mindfulness, by attending to the pillars of brain fitness, which are physical exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management (sounds like mindfulness), and novel learning experience, which is where the computerized brain fitness programs can fit in.

Mindfulness cognitive therapy heart beat by heart beat can be fun to learn and do, and it sure feels good.

According to the ancient Hindus, chakras are the human body's main energy centers; they are acknowledged as an essential part of our life force which help keep our mind and body functioning together harmoniously in top-notch condition. Although not physically visible, chakras are associated with our body's major endocrinal glands (which are visible).

Chakras are responsible for regulating the energy that flow into and from our body. This continuous interplay of energy within our body, the environment and objects we come in contact with ultimately requires that our chakras remain in balance in order to be able to function as best as possible for our benefit.

Our seven primary chakras each correspond to a particular part of our endocrine system. Everything we experience is intimately related to our chakras.

Any kind of stress, whether mental, physical or emotional can negatively affect the balance of our chakras. We can have a loss of energy, even illness as a result of this imbalance. This is a clear sign if there ever was one that our chakras are out of balance.

For our body to reap the benefits of a well-tuned chakric system, they need to be functioning in harmony with one another. Chakra balance is essential to maintain its beneficial function to the human body and to achieve this, regular chakra balancing is necessary much like a car's preventive maintenance procedures.

Importance of Chakra Balancing: Many different methods can be used to keep our chakras in proper balance. The goal of those who want to lead a happy, healthy and productive life is to keep their chakras in perfect balance with one another.

To begin with, people must understand that each chakra has its own different resonant frequency which corresponds to naturally occurring frequencies. These frequencies which facilitate the energy reception and transmission functions of the chakras; otherwise referred to as qi, chi or prana.

When we are experiencing physical illness, our chakras are not non-functioning, but are out of balance with each other. The resulting imbalance in energy flow can create all manner of problems, including exacerbating our state of ill health. Other factors which can cause a imbalance in our chakras are stress, poor diet and lack of exercise.

The balance of your chakras can, happily, be restored; although they will get out of balance from time to time, but this can be corrected.

Tools of Chakra Balancing: The most common tools used to restore the balance of chakras are color, crystals and gems, light, sound and aroma therapy.

Colors: Commonly used colors and their corresponding chakras are red (the root chakra), orange (the sacral chakra), yellow (the solar plexus chakra), green and turquoise (the heart chakra), blue (the throat chakra), violet (the crown chakra) and white for any of the primary chakras.

Crystals and Gems: Going back thousands of years, the laying of crystals, gems and stones on the body where the chakra points are is another method of regaining balance of the chakra system. Considering that each chakra resonates to a particular color it follows that by laying a stone of the same color to which the chakra resonates on the area of the chakra, they will also be able to achieve the necessary balance for the physical body to be able to heal.

The light reflected by these stones can also help by getting this light into the body (and your chakras).

Light: Light therapy uses light on the eyes, the meridian points used in acupuncture and the areas where the body has the strongest reflexes in order to deliver the proper frequencies to restore chakra balance. Light is made up of both visible and invisible frequencies, including those which are beneficial to the chakras. The spectrum of light is very broad, so this is an effective means of chakra balancing.

Aromatherapy: Aromatherapy uses essential oils, massage oils which are scented as well as scented bath soaps to help the body heal and to restore proper chakra balance. Essential oils can return mental and emotional stability to a person who is out of balance. Aromatherapy is also effective in relieving stress, promoting relaxation and can also assist in alleviating depression and helping one to reach a meditative state.

Sound: Sound therapy creates chakra-resonant frequencies and produces a sensation of well being using tuning forks, soft music, Tibetan singing bowls and other means. Sound has natural soothing and chakra balancing properties and appeals to emotional response as well. A soothing, beautiful sound fosters relaxation and balance while a harsh one causes an anxious state. Sound can speed up healing and promote a higher state of consciousness.

It once was that chakra balancing was a lengthy and difficult process. Now, thanks to innovations in audio technology such as subliminal sound, binaural frequencies and self-hypnosis recordings, chakra balancing is a much simpler thing than it was even a few decades ago.

Copyright (c) 2010 Rick Roux

We are constantly asking ourselves the perennial questions in Life. Why are we here? What are we here for? What is the meaning of life? Short of answering these questions there is one thing that becomes abundantly clear as you walk through your experience in life. We have the ability to become better, healthier and happier human beings. We are built with the capacity to develop ourselves psychologically, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Once you discover this truth it almost becomes a responsibility to help and develop yourself. So the questions remains - how do I do it. What are the steps that I need to take to become a better, happier and healthier human being.

Ayurveda is the most ancient and comprehensive healing system in the world. Dating back almost 4 to 5 thousand years ago, Ayurveda blossomed as a natural healing system and still remains a holistic healing system that can bring many benefits to our lives. The beauty of Ayurveda can be found in its understanding of the human being as a mind, body, spirit complex. It would seem obvious that we are not just bodies but are actually a combination of mind, body, and spirit but in our health care system we treat ourselves as if we were only a body. We prescribe pharmaceuticals to treat our bodily diseases and we leave it at that. We recommend exercise and a healthy diet - that is where we typically end the health recommendations. In Ayurveda, health goes far beyond that. To begin with, the human being is treated as an individual who is composed of a unique body constitution. This body constitution is determined by what elements are present within the body or to what degree these elements are present within us. Depending on these factors you begin to balance these components to bring harmony and wellness. It is of no surprise then when we remember the words of the western father of medicine: Hippocrates:

"The natural forces within us and the true healers of disease"

From this perspective Ayurveda looks to heal the individual completely. It utilizes a very thorough understanding of Nutrition which determines the optimal foods to eat, the right times to consume food for proper digestion, and the right state of mind to develop when consuming our foods. Furthermore, Ayurveda also heals by incorporating natural herbs and natural herb combinations. A comprehensive understanding of herbs is presented give the ways of consumption, the combination of herbs, the preparation of herbal formula and the times to consume along with the mental framework as well. You learn to work with natural oils. A full spectrum of natural oils is presented through Ayurveda and how to apply these oils in different ways to Marma points which are very similar to meridian points in acupuncture. Ayurveda also has a recommendation in terms of the mental aspects of the human being. The comprehension of mental patterns becomes important, developing presence and consciousness of the moment or of the present moment becomes an important aspect of life for Ayurveda. The capacity to develop the power of attention which is the basis for meditative practices and other spiritual practices that we see run through many traditions. There are no secrets here. We know that many different cultural and religious traditions use rosaries, malas, repetitive prayers, chanting, meditation or dancing to harness the power of attention or to concentrate the being on one single point. This concentration and emptying of thought patterns allows you to concentrate on the present moment of being. This state helps to develop inner peace, tranquility an objective perspective on life and many other benefits. Ayurveda also incorporates training in meditation for well-being and health. Even further, Ayurveda incorporates Pranayam or the science of breath which teaches you how many different techniques to harness the power of breathing more completely. Current studies show that the average American only uses about 26 percent of their lung capacity. Through Ayurvedic principles you are taught how to breathe better and fuller breaths and how to nourish your organs through breathing among many other benefits. Ayurveda also looks to incorporate the science of Yoga which is a complementary science and even has postures designated for each particular body constitution.

In essence, Ayurveda offers a system of natural healing that is very complete both in terms of its treatments and also in its understanding of the human being. It offers a vision of healing for curing disease, for preventative health and ultimately for spiritual liberation. Ayurveda offers timeless principles for healing and well being. So learn more today by visiting our website and viewing our classes online on our Ayurveda You Tube Channel. So get started today - Your new life is waiting for you.

According to Loyola University, the average one-month-old baby is bathed four times each week and shampooed three times. Commercial Baby Skin Care Products are loaded with chemicals, fragrances and detergents that dry out sensitive skin and often cause skin rashes in babies and young children. As a result more products are applied with a further de-hydrating affect on your precious baby's skin. For a natural approach to Baby Skin Care newborn babies need only an occasional bath in warm water and no soap or shampoo is needed. If you are treating cradle cap, nappy rash or skin rashes in babies, then use only natural baby skin care products.

We recommend looking after your baby's skin with Natural Products that are organic relief for your baby's skin and scalp and won't dry out skin. Baby skin care products should have a pH 5.5 and be free of Sodium Lauryl sulphate, soap agents and fragrances.

Over 75 percent of newborn babies get nappy rash within the first months after birth.
Nappy Rash most commonly occurs due to bacteria and detergent residues that are not completely rinsed off when nappies are changed and/or washed. It is important to keep your baby's sensitive skin clean and well hydrated and if nappy rash does occur, we feel natural skin care products and natural treatment of nappy rash and skin rashes in babies is imperative, giving your baby the best organic start in life.

The standard medical treatment for skin rashes and nappy rash is cortisone cream. Fortunately, some paediatricians prefer not use such strong steroids purely for cosmetic reasons. Try Pure Organic Aloe Vera to nourish, moisturise and protect your baby's sensitive skin. Organic Aloe Vera will gently re-hydrate the most sensitive skin, without fragrance, colour, SLS or gelling agent added. Apply with every diaper/nappy change and don't rub in; allow a few minutes to dry. The lotion will absorb naturally and allow for much loved nappy free time. We recommend washing the nappy area with clean water each diaper/nappy change then patting dry before applying Aloe Vera lotion. Without a powder base this baby skin care treatment insures no concerns of inhalation. Apply a barrier cream to protect your baby's sensitive skin. A natural baby skin care barrier cream protects against further de- hydration and assists in keeping nappy rash and skin rashes in babies at bay. Apply with every diaper/nappy change.

Aloe Vera has a pH factor very close to that of the skin and it helps to restore the skin to its natural pH. Six antiseptics naturally contained in Aloe Vera soothe nappy rash, baby skin rashes, inflammation and irritated skin and reduce the chance of further infection. Aloe Vera is a mild anaesthetic, antibacterial & antifungal, containing anti-inflammatory fatty acids. These components have shown to assist in relieving itching, swelling, redness and pain. Aloe Vera is a natural moisturiser, fragrance and oil free, perfect for baby skin care products and treating cradle cap, nappy rash and other skin rashes in babies.

Cradle Cap is a thick, yellowish, crusty rash that forms on the scalp and sometimes the eyebrows of babies. Cradle Cap can be found on newborn babies skin, on toddler scalps and if persistent cradle cap can still be found on pre-schoolers. Cradle Cap is not dangerous, only unsightly. Cradle Cap in babies and young children is caused partly by an over production of oil. We suggest, if harsh detergents are used in baby care products and used daily, the bodies natural oil production is stimulated to counter act the drying effects of these so called 'gentle' baby care products. Instead, apply Aloe Vera products directly onto the skin, just a fine mist at a time but apply regularly to soften cradle cap crusts, then after bathing rub gently with a towel or a soft hair brush to remove cradle cap crusts. Several attempts may be needed.

Organic Aloe Vera Natural Skin Care Products are ideal for baby skin care. Aloe Vera is natural skin treatment that will gently re-hydrate the most sensitive baby skin. Aloe Vera will cleanse, repair, moisturise and protect the most sensitive skin without fear of petroleum by products, SLS, fragrance, colour, gelling agents or fillers added.

What is Attacking Our Immune System And How Can We Stop it?

It doesn't take a doctor to tell us how poor diet and lack of sleep can make us feel fatigued and run-down, but what most people don't know is how basic stressors can tax our immune system, making us vulnerable to a vast array of diseases and conditions we never thought were related to stress.

That's what Dr. Sherrill Sellman, a Naturopathic Doctor, thinks people need to understand in order to safeguard their health.

"We leave our immune systems open to attack every day by doing things we know we shouldn't," she said. "As a nation, we don't eat right for the most part. According to more than a dozen studies, we are the most obese nation on the planet. We eat way too much sugar and refined carbohydrates, we don't get the recommended level of sleep, we don't get enough exposure to the sun and we take antibiotics at the first sniffle or sign of nausea. The immune system involves your skin, intestines, nasal mucosa, blood, lymph, white blood cells, stem cells, b-cells and many other organs and tissues. Factors that impair the immune system include nutrient deficiencies, contaminated air, water and food, unhealthful lifestyles and too much exposure to harmful microbes. The problem is that sometimes the result is a condition that we don't even realize came about because of our poor habits."

Dr. Sellman knows that all these behaviors compromise our immune system, which could lead to a wide variety of conditions, including:

• The Common Cold -- There still is no cure for the common cold, but a strong immune system can help prevent you from catching one. An overactive immune system is useless against the modern strains of colds, so the best way to avoid it is still keeping your immunities strong.

• Fibromyalgia - When we tax our immune system too much, it goes into overdrive and that overactivity can lead to fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by widespread pain, morning stiffness, fatigue, vision problems, nausea, sleep disorders and many more specific issues.

• Arthritis - Many people don't know that rheumatory arthritis is an autoimmune disease. Stress on the immune system makes it hyperactive, and it begins to attack the joints. It's not an old person's disease - it's a disease that is caused by an immune system compromised by overactivity.

• Asthma - The respiratory system is especially vulnerable to a compromised immune system, because infections can reside in the lungs longer when a person's immunities are weakened. This can make a person more susceptible to developing asthma, especially if it runs in their family.

• All Chronic Illness - A weakened immune system plays a role in all chronic illnesses, including cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. When your immune system is under siege by poor nutrition, lack of sleep and undue stress, it places people in a higher risk group for these conditions.

"To strengthen your immune system, you must address the needs of the systems in your body starting at the cellular level," she added. "A strong immune system is essential for health. One element that I have found helpful with my patients is a colostrum-based ingredient called Immunel, which can be found in certain natural health supplements. Immunel (www.thenaturesgift.com) is a targeted immune product that activates the innate immune system within 3 minutes of consumption. Studies have concluded it is effective in promoting immune system health. Combined with better lifestyle choices, it can help keep people out of the doctor's office and beat the stress."

If you've been using Chinese herbs for a while, and have been getting acupuncture and massages in order to relieve pain and pressure in the body, you may want to go a step further and learn about magnetic therapy. Advocates of magnetic therapy claim that it will draw out impurities in your body that you may not even know you had, and will help your organs to function better.

As with all alternative health practices, there has been some skepticism concerning the effectiveness of magnetic therapy. Some people say that this method is not effective and may actually be harmful. If you have questions about the therapy, you should discuss them in detail with your doctor first.

Magnetic therapy uses magnets in different parts of the body to 'draw out' impurities or toxins from the body, due to the static field that the magnet creates around the body. Some alternative medicine enthusiasts even believe that magnetic therapy can help to heal broken bones, and can be beneficial to those with arthritis.

You can go to a massage center to have the magnetic therapy done, and while you're there, you will most likely be able to take advantage of some aromatherapy benefits as well. Certain oils, such as lavender or bergamot, have the ability to improve the mood and increase circulation, and if you are having the therapy done on your hands or feet, you may use some of these oils to heighten the effect.

After you leave the massage center, there are a number of magnetic therapy products you can use to participate in the healing process whenever you need to. For instance, there are magnetic therapy bracelets you can purchase that are said to heal the discomfort in the wrist that can be caused from arthritis or fibromyalgia. You can also purchase magnetic foot insoles for your shoes that will draw toxins out from all over the body. Magnetic Necklaces can be worn for neck and shoulder relief, and there are also magnetic therapy products you can purchase to help relieve insomnia.

You can carry the magnets around with you wherever you go, which makes the therapy convenient; this will be even more of a benefit when you start to see improvements.

If you think this alternative health therapy may be for you, you can purchase the items that you need on the web.

Lacerations Healing of Wounds through Wound Be Gone

The term laceration implies a torn or jagged wound. Lacerations tend to be caused by blunt trauma (such as a blow, fall, or collision). Cuts and lacerations are terms for the same condition. The term laceration is commonly misused in reference to incisions.

A laceration may be large or small, if the laceration is minor then minimal bleeding could occur, but in some cases it may bleed a lot. Minor lacerations cause less pain and no numbness and tingling at the site. If a laceration bleeds a great deal with no sign of stopping, it needs to be closed with stitches. If any bone and tendons could be seen then the wound has to be stitched. Stitches may also be needed to keep the wound from becoming infected and to reduce the scarring that may develop after it has healed. Old wounds are not possible to be stitched easily. There are some kinds of laceration that may heal without the need of stitches. The healing time for a laceration depends on its location. For instance, a cut on the leg usually heals more slowly than one on the head. Stitches are usually removed within 5 days to 2 weeks. The cut will continue to heal for up to 6 months.

Minor lacerations could be treated by following steps:

• The site should be cleaned well with an antibacterial soap and warm water.
• An effective topical gel or ointment should be used
• The laceration site should be covered with sterile gauze or a Band-Aid.
The Band-Aid should be changed when needed or when soiled. The wound
underneath should be cleaned and the ointment should be applied again.
• If red streaks or drainage appears around the site, then medical help should
be taken.

But in some cases the laceration is not a minor one and stitches are required. In this situation the wound care is different, which is as follows:

• The wound site should be kept clean.
• An antibiotic ointment should be used if prescribed by the doctor.
• The site should be elevated as this would prevent or decrease pain, swelling
and throbbing.
• Medications to reduce pain can be used.
• Return to the doctor to get the stitches removed within 7-10 days or when asked.
• Complete monitoring of the wound should be kept, if any redness or drainage
is seen, then medical attention should be taken.
• Once the stitches are removed then Vitamin E can be used on the wound site, as
it helps in reducing the scar.

Wound be gone topical gel plays a pivotal role in healing the wounds with a faster pace. It can be used for applying over lacerations as it doesn't have any side effects. The role of wound be gone is not limited till healing the wound, but it also helps in preventing the scar formation over the wound. One of its other features is that it heals the wound with minimal chances of getting infected. It works based on a unique and patented revolutionary principle; totally different from current healing products. It contains no antibiotics or biological material; it has a wide range of uses, and is safe to use with no age restrictions.

Cuts and grazes are among the most common of all injuries. Minor cuts and grazes that do not go right through the skin usually heal without causing any problems unless they become infected or cause an unwelcome visible scar. Deeper cuts may damage important structures below the skin, such as nerves, blood vessels or tendons.

Usually minor cuts don't require a trip to the emergency room, and can be treated at home, if some certain steps are followed. Some of these steps are as follows:

• Minor cuts usually stop bleeding themselves, but if they don't then a
little pressure should be applied on the wound with a clean cloth or bandage.
The pressure should be held continuously for up to 20 to 30 minutes. Checking
to see if the bleeding has stopped may damage or dislodge the fresh clot
that's forming and cause bleeding to resume. If the blood spurts or continues
to flow after continuous pressure, seek medical assistance.
• The wound should be cleaned with clean water. In such situation soap can
irritate the wound, so its use should be avoided. If dirt or debris remains
in the wound after washing, tweezers should be used, cleaned with alcohol
to remove the particles. If there is still debris embedded in the wound
after cleaning, a doctor should be seen. Thorough wound cleaning reduces the
risk of infection and tetanus. To clean the area around the wound, use soap and
a washcloth. There's no need to use hydrogen peroxide, iodine or an
iodine-containing cleanser.
• After the wound is cleaned, a thin layer of a topical gel or a cream can
be applied, to keep the wound moist. Certain ingredients in some ointments
can cause a mild rash in some people. If a rash appears, stop using the ointment.
• Bandages can help keep the wound clean and keep harmful bacteria out. After
the wound has healed enough to make infection unlikely, exposure to the air
will speed wound healing.
• Dressing should be changed at least daily or whenever it becomes wet or dirty.
If the sufferer is allergic to the adhesive used in most bandages, then
they should switch to adhesive-free dressings or sterile gauze held in place
with paper tape, gauze roll or a loosely applied elastic bandage.
• A wound that is more than 1/4 inch (6 millimeters) deep or is gaping or
jagged edged and has fat or muscle protruding usually requires stitches. A
strip or two of surgical tape may hold a minor cut together, but if the mouth
of the wound can't be closed easily, medical help should be taken
instantly. Proper closure within a few hours reduces the risk of infection.
• Medical help should be taken if the cut isn't healing or there is any
redness, increasing pain, drainage, warmth or swelling.
• Doctors recommend getting a tetanus shot every 10 years. If the wound is deep
or dirty and the last tetanus shot was more than five years ago, then doctor
may recommend a tetanus shot booster. Get the booster within 48 hours of
the injury.

Wound be gone is an effective topical gel, which heals the wounds without scarring. Its revolutionary feature fights against foreign bodies, which prevents the wound from being infected. Wound be gone supports moist healing of the wound, and heals the wound faster than usual. It doesn't contain antibiotics or any kind of biological material. Because of wound be gone's transparency, the condition of the wound and healing progress can be easily inspected with no need for redressing and repeated application, eliminating risks such as stripping off a scab or newly formed skin.

Sports massage has been used for decades as a treatment tool for both sporting and occupational injuries, as well as pre-sport, post-sport and as a preventative measure. Its continued use is down to its success in the clinical setting. However, a new piece of research may be about to discredit its use.

If you ask a sports massage therapist what the benefits of sports massage are, their answer is likely to include "an increase in blood flow", alongside other commonly quoted effects, such as the break down of scar tissue, removal of lactic acid and stretching and realignment of muscle fibres.

A recent study from Queens University has demonstrated that sports massage can actually impair blood flow to the muscles following exercise, as well as reducing lactic acid removal. These findings have been used to suggest that it is not effective for use post-exercise.

Although more research is required, if this is in fact the case, it still does not render sports massage ineffective, post exercise, or in any other scenario.

From my personal experience of over 5 years practising sports massage, it is by far the most useful tool I possess, far beyond my TENS and Ultrasound machines! I use sports massage in the majority of my injury treatments, for everything from an acute or chronically sprained ankle, to lower back pain rehabilitation. It helps me to gain a good insight into the state of the underlying muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia as well as helping to stretch and relax tight muscles, release trigger points and break down adhesions and scar tissue. I also have a number of devoted clients, whom after seeing their flexibility increase, aches and pains reduce, sporting performance improve and injury rate decrease, make regular appointments for a massage.

My point is this...new research should always be welcomed as we do not, and probably never will, fully understand the human body and the effects that our 'treatments' have, especially those labelled complimentary. However, I also believe in the proof of success within the clinical setting. If a practitioner finds something works (even if only on a placebo or psychological basis), then why stop using it?
