At the time of its creation, gambling was illegal in France. Instead it was other countries or Europe and the United States that first used the new roulette table. In fact, in the United States, it became so popular that many dubbed roulette the "King" of all casino games. Roulette was often equated with wealth and usually was played only by the wealthier members of society.
The next major change in the game of roulette occurred many, many years later when the game was incorporated with internet technology.
